There is After School Tutoring today for students needing academic help in English in Mrs. Law’s classroom and Before School Tutoring tomorrow morning in Ms. Otto’s for math.

Good job to our Cross Country teams as they participated in the Ruidoso Invitational this past Saturday.  Rudy Madrid and Sierra Dean were our top finishers.

Also great job to our “Indian Pride” Band for their fine performance in the University of Arizona Band Days Marching Competition on Saturday.  Out of the ten bands in their division, our “Indian Pride” band was one out of three bands who received an Excellent Rating.  All the other bands received good!  Our band will be hosting the Cobre Marching Festival this Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m.  Silver and Deming High School marching bands will also be performing.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Student Council is sponsoring a collection drive for items needed for the children of domestic violence for the month of October.   Please
 see the note passed out to your 3rd period teachers for a list of needed items and bring your
items to your 3rd period teacher.  The class with the most items will win a root beer float party. 
All items collected will be donated to the children of El Refugio.

Students, Bayard police once again are again giving notice that vehicles parking along Jones
Street and the side residential streets will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Fall baseball practice has started for all boys interested in playing this season and are not out
for a current sport.  Mondays and Wednesdays players meet at the field at 4:30 p.m., on
Tuesdays and Thursdays players meet in the weight room at 6 p.m.   See Coach Sanchez
in room 142 if you have any questions.

A trip to Peru will take place the summer of 2018.  If you are interested, you’re invited to
attend a meeting with Ms. Gonzales in her room.

Unexcused Late Work Acceptance Policy

 Cobre High has instituted an “Unexcused” Late Work Acceptance Policy.  This policy does not apply
to students who are absent and receive an excused absence for a health or family situation, or for
  missing school due to a school activity.  This policy applies only to students who are present in
class and are given a due date on an extended assignment and fail to turn in the assignment on
the due date. This is considered unexcused late work.  Unexcused late work will only be accepted
up to four school days from the due date. 

 A grade penalty of 10% off for each day late will be applied.  For example; if an assignment is due
on Wednesday a student may still turn it in by the end of school on Tuesday of the following week
 for partial (40% off the final grade) credit. 
This policy is effective school-wide in all core and elective classes.
