Starting this week, our school nurse, Mrs. Ramirez, will be here every day in the afternoon from
12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Students, today select 3rd periods classes will be participating in “The Day at the PARCC”. The Day at the PARCC is basically a field test to ensure all programs are working correctly. The actual state required PARCC assessment here at Cobre High, is scheduled during the last two weeks of April.
Unexcused Late Work Acceptance Policy
Cobre High is instituting an “Unexcused” Late Work Acceptance Policy. This policy does not apply to students who are absent and receive an excused absence for a health or family situation, or for missing school due to a school activity. This policy applies only to students who are present in class and are given a due date on an extended assignment and fail to turn in the assignment on the due date. This is considered unexcused late work. Unexcused late work will only be accepted up to four school days from the due date. A grade penalty of 10% off for each day late will be applied. For example; if an assignment is due on Wednesday a student may still turn it in by the end of school on Tuesday of the following week for partial (40% off the final grade) credit. This policy will be effective school-wide in all core and elective classes.
This Wednesday, February 10th, all schools will be hosting their Spring
Parent/Teacher Conferences. There is no school on Wednesday and conferences will
run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., to accommodate parent
work schedules. Third nine weeks Progress Reports will also be handed out during Wednesday’s conferences.

Great job to our Indian wrestling team as they handily defeated St. Michaels, Tierra Encantada and Ruidoso in the district duals this past Saturday. Our wrestlers will be back on the mat this coming Saturday, the 13th, in Silver, for the district state qualifier. Only the top three wrestlers in each weight class will make it to state.
Best of luck to our lady Indians JV and Varsity basketball teams as they’ll be on the road today to face the Lady Warriors of Socorro. Also, best of luck to our “Running Red” boys’ basketball teams as they’ll host the Socorro Warriors today, in our gym, starting at 4:00 p.m., with the C-Team, followed by the JV and Varsity.
Come out and support your Indians!!!
